So I got that error message when I tried to install unetbootin on windows 7. I could not find any work around online, but i did find an alternative that worked that I was not familiar with:
http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/
This worked fine on windows 7.
